Research activities

Currently, the main lines of research at the Atomic Physics and Surface Science group are:

  • Structure and Dynamics of solid surfaces.
  • Elemental processes involved in the adsorption and growth.
  • Fabrication of nanostructures at surfaces and the characterization of their physical and chemical properties.
  • Interaction of ions with matter.
  • Development of ion scattering techniques for surface and thin film analysis.

Have a look at our projects and equipment. For more information you may consult our on-line publications.

In collaboration with other research groups we also pursue projects on

  • Adsorption, structure and mobility of gases in carbon nanotubes
  • Electronic excitations and energy loss of ions traversing matter
